When I left Lantana Suites it felt like I was leaving home!
I stayed close to a week at this Westlands based hotel, located in a quiet area of Westlands but close enough to key places like ABC Plaza or Sarit Centre.
Accommodation is in suites, offering a sitting room, kitchenette and separate bedroom, very convenient for guests staying for more than a day or two.
My bathroom was simple but very clean and adequate and plenty of towels were available including hand and face towels!
I used the fridge but would recommend that guests rather eat in the restaurant or order room service than bothering to cook a meal in an otherwise well-equipped kitchenette.
My suite was clean on arrival and was kept clean throughout my stay. The housekeeping staff obliged with extra tea bags and creamer and more water when asked for and even provided a can of Doom against mosquitos.
Turndown service was regular, bedroom sprayed and mosquito net and curtains closed, so no problem there.
I enjoyed the food, a varied buffet for breakfast except on one day when the restaurant offered an a la carte breakfast.
The food selection on the menu covered all tastes and presentation as well as quantity of the servings was above average. I especially enjoyed the hot and sour chicken soup and the pasta dishes too were well presented and tasty. No Eggs Benedict here but very good omelettes made up for that!
I loved the pineapple and mint juice for breakfast on a daily basis and appreciated that the mint leaves were not entirely liquefied, a special touch!
Lucy Aberi turned out to be a very proactive guest relations staff who enquired about guests comfort and requests at meal times and whenever one crossed paths. The front office staff was not just friendly but most accommodating, a sign of good training and even better attitude.
I was to stay for two nights and extended to six, a vote of confidence to management and staff at all levels. Given the rates the Lantana charges does this – otherwise ranked 3 star hotel – come highly recommended by me when one is looking for a well situated and affordable hotel in Nairobi.
Fast internet service, room service at no extra cost, very friendly dining room staff and being given the feeling that one was at home rather than a hotel guest made a huge difference.
I understand that the bath tubs, which also double as a shower, will be progressively replaced with showers, which will improve the stay quality even further.
I normally do 4 or 5 star stays in Nairobi only but this was an eye opener and I for sure will be back whenever a longer stay is required during my business trips to the Kenyan capital.
Asante Sana Mr. Jackton Amutala – you run a tight ship and both you and your entire staff are a credit to the hospitality industry!
